Today in history: In 1945, Japan surrendered to Allied Forces, thus ending the Second World War. Above is a clip from the BBC broadcast that announced the surrender of Japan with a message from The Right Honorable Clement Attlee, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom [July 26m 1945 to October 26, 1951]. Attlee began his broadcast with: “Japan has today surrendered. The last of our enemies is laid low.”
